What changes happen during pregnancy?
- The pelvis tilts forward, which will put strain on the lower back. Depending on where the baby sits, this may cause sciatica, lower back, and hip pain.
- The breasts will increase in size, then pulling the shoulders forward and putting stress on the neck, mid-back and the ribcage which can cause pain, numbness and tingling in arms and hands.
- The center of gravity shifts forward and down which changes your posture that can result in in-uterine constraint.
- The pelvis opens up due to the hormone relaxin, which can cause gait changes, otherwise known as the pregnant waddle.
- The uterus will increase to more than 300 times its normal size, which can cause compression and flaring of the ribcage, diaphragm, pelvis and abdominals that can result in difficulty breathing, heartburn and pain.
- The hormone relaxin will also aggravate any previous joint injuries which can cause more pain and posture distortion

WHY SHOULD MY BABY BE CHECKED BY A CHIROPRACTOR?
-
Birth can be a pretty traumatic process. This trauma causes misalignments in baby’s tiny spinal bones. These misalignments in baby’s neck vertebra interfere with their delicate nervous system. The nervous system is the system that controls and coordinates all of baby’s growth and development. When misalignments go undetected and uncorrected babies can develop many unnecessary problems.
- Many conditions such as ear infections, difficulty sleeping, colic, breastfeeding problems, reflux and many more MAY be helped via Chiropractic care
IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAFE FOR NEWBORNS?
-
Yes! Chiropractic care for newborns is very safe when performed by a qualified pediatric chiropractor.
-
Have you ever pressed on a tomato to check its ripeness? Doesn’t take much does it? That is approximately the amount of pressure it takes to perform an adjustment on a newborn infant. Newborn chiropractic care is extremely gentle! Many babies sleep right through their adjustments.
